A self-serve Profound alternative for growing brands
Profound is built for large enterprises. If you want to see and improve your brand's AI visibility without a sales call or an annual contract, AnswerShelf is a simpler, self-serve option.
What changed at Profound
According to Trakkr's September 2026 pricing review, Profound removed its self-serve Starter ($99/month) and Growth ($399/month) brand plans in mid-September 2026. New brands now get a limited free trial and then a custom Enterprise plan through sales. Agencies can still buy an agency plan per client workspace.
That's a sensible move for Profound's enterprise customers, but it leaves many growing brands and small teams without a self-serve way to track AI visibility.

Selling in India? What we saw on Profound's free trial
On 4 October 2026 we set up an Indian beauty brand on Profound's free trial, using our own test account, and looked at what it showed.
- US-focused results. The competitors it compared the brand with were mostly US brands and retailers, such as CeraVe, La Roche-Posay, Sephora, Target, Walmart and Ulta Beauty. The sites AI cited most included sephora.com, target.com and allure.com.
- English-only questions without Indian context. Its 50 suggested buyer questions were in English and didn't mention India or rupees, for example "Which affordable serums actually work for fading dark spots?"
- Searches on US sites. The searches ChatGPT ran behind those answers included look-ups such as "site:cerave.com travel size facial cleanser 1 oz".
- Sentiment takes time. The trial said its sentiment profile "can take up to a week to complete".
To be fair: the trial covers one region and one language, and Profound's Enterprise plans support 30+ languages and 150+ regions, so a paid setup can be tuned for India. For an Indian brand trying it on its own, though, the default view said little about Indian buyers.
For Indian brands, AnswerShelf writes questions for Indian buyers, with prices in rupees, asks them in English, Hinglish and Hindi, and compares you with the brands Indian shoppers actually see. A free live check takes about two minutes.
From our own test of Profound's free trial on 4 October 2026. Results depend on how a workspace is set up and can change; try both and compare.
